When it comes to taking care of your lawn , one of the most important maintenance practices are also one of the most basic. WATERING !

As you or your turf professional takes care of your lawn with proper fertilization and control products at the right times of the year , proper mowing and watering is essential to optimize treatment.

Your lawn should receive 1″ to 1.5″ of water per week during the hottest, driest months of the year. Light watering that merely dampens the grass is of little benefit and can even hurt your lawn.
Take a tuna can, place in the yard during watering , to determine how long it takes to collect from 1″ to 1.5″ of water. This is how long you should water your lawn to reach a watering depth of about 6″ which will promote a deeper root system making your turf better able to withstand our hot Summers.
When is the best time to water ? Early morning watering is the best as evening watering can keep your turf damp overnight and more prone to disease development.

Never remove more than 1/3 of the leaf blade at any one time as this will cause scalping and browning of your lawn.
Try to mow every 5 to 7 days during the growing season and keep your mower blades sharp as a dull blade will “chew” the grass off leaving a ragged edge which is more prone to disease besides a sharp blade giving a cleaner cut it will just make your lawn look better.

These basic tips are the key to making your lawn care program give you the best results

Have a nice day  🙂
